ART OF THE TITLE: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Art of the title – Guardians of the Galaxy

39 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Gifs - Gif Abyss

I have chosen to study the opening scene of Guardians of the galaxy because the colours and music makes for an enjoyable scene.

Throughout the opening scene upbeat and well-known music is played. By using well-known music, it attracts audiences and makes them stay to watch the opening scene as the opening is the most important part as you need to keep the audience interested and make them want to watch.

The whole scene is comedic as the main character is enjoying and dancing to the music however there is lots of violence going on behind him which shows what the film is going to be like.

The character Groot, is focused on throughout the whole scene and the camera never shifts to something else. The camera is tracking his motions and flows with the way Groot is walking and his movements.

Non-diegetic sound is used in the opening scene as when Groot plugs in the wire the music starts playing.

Colours are important throughout this scene as it creates atmosphere and matches the music with a happy and upbeat vibe. If the colours were very monochrome then it wouldn’t match the vibe of the music and would make it more serious however because there are bright, bursts of colour it can attract younger audiences to watch the movie.

  1. Aim to identify the genre (scifi / fantasy) and analyse how the genre is conveyed by the film language (such as the visual codes, the narrative, the characters). You comment though6fully on the appeal of the music and the colour, but could be more detailed and precise throughout. Please add the non-rectangle grid from 'Art of The Title' as well.
